I got a Powder Brown Tang last night, it's 2". I know, I know, some of you Tang Cops will be piling up here to shoot me now, but I couldn't resist. I have a very stable and well doing 60 gallon w/ a sump. Enough rockwork but not too much, so there's ample swimming room. He seems to be doing great, except I think my cleaner shrimp stress him by jumping on him to clean him.
I think by the time it grows too big, I'll be investing into a bigger tank.

Don't think there will be any flames about it. It's always been people will do what they want even if it isn't optimal.
My only interest is that I hope EUPHORIA has fixed some of the problems that have happend latley.
Clownfish dieing without known cause and fish breathing heavy in the last two weeks.
I simply hope that what may have caused these problems have been addressed and solutions found, making the new purchase a good one and not a premature one.
Good luck EUPHORIA, post a pic of the new addition if you can.
I take it the PB isn't in a QT at the moment?

After much checking, reading, asking, etc... I think my one clown died cuz it was diseased from the LFS. My amm, trite, trate values are excellent and the tank pH and temp are steady. The other clown and the lemonpeel are doing great, and so far so is the Tang.
The heavy breathing has stopped. I changed the direction the PH's were blowing water, and I think I have more oxygen flow into the tank now.
Sometimes the Tang will swim, then flip its body to the side and gently scrape the side of its body on the sand, takes like 1 second, then re-adjust itself and continue swimming. Don't know if he's playing or if its serious issue.

Could be ich or ick whatever if he starts scratching from what I hear. There were a few tangs at the LFS and they were scratching up against some LR and they told me they had ich so i am not sure.:notsure:

Most likely the tang has ich. If the tang is under a lot of stress than this will become a problem, and an expensive lesson as well.

Normally fish don't just flick themselves off rocks and things for the heck of it. If yours is doing this it more than likely has ick. If this fish is in your main tank, now all your fish have ick. Be prepaired to treat the WHOLE tank.

I have been treating the fish w/ metro, and the tang has stopped rubbing itself on rock/sand. I just mix it w/ the food and feed it to them. It's been only 3 days I've been doing that and so far I think it's working. Hope it doesn't come back again.
