Should I be worried

I am wondering if I need to worry about my Emerald crab getting my fish, or whatever else he wants. During feeding and every once in a while I'll see the crab trying to grab the fish as they swim by, now if the fish die on their own and he gets them fine, but do you think he could just pick one out of the water, and are they know for sneaking up on a fish during the night? Thanks for your input.

I have a few emerald crabs and I have never had one kill a fish. They may try to grab them, but that's usually unsuccesful. Besides they are herbivorous. I really would not worry.

Hey SM, thanks for the reply, when I put in the frozen silversides he goes crazy for it, running from across the tank to get onto the tongs with the fish in them. I have also seen him eating a small bristle worm. By the way, for your quote, the words are "dog eat dog" Cliff Clavin, cheers.

I have only had one problem with an emerald, but ti was a red one. it was fine, but then went on a killing spree and took out a seahorse, a sally litefoot, and a couple peppermint shrimp... maybe more.
i hacve watch all of my emeralds 'nip' at fish that get too close, but i think it is more a defensive move than anything.

Javajoe I to think it's more defensive than offensive when they nip at passing fish, but I too have seen one of the few Emeralds I have kept eating bristle worms, leftover peices silversides and other fish food!
