Should I Fresh Water Dip my new Live Rock?

Hi Everyone....I am setting up a brand new 90 gallon tank. I have a 130# of LR coming in this week. A friend of mine told me that I should do a Fresh Water Dip of the rock? Has anyone ever heard of that -- I searched the forums and can't find anything on it...he said that it will kill Parasites, and he has even heard of people putting seltzer in holes in the rock to get any mantis shrimp out....I was planning on rinsing it with the Saltwater that I take out of the tank to make room for the rock - but not using Fresh Water....If I should do a FW dip, how long do I keep the rock in the Fresh Water? Just a quick dip in and out?
Thanks in advance...

NO please do not dip your rock in FW. if you want to get rid of any pests use a high salinity dip with a SG of about 1.030 and it will cause them to RUN for less saline waters.
Diping in freshwater will kill everything on the rock and leave you with expensive base rock.

Thats not true... I have been cleaning my LR with freshwater for years... In fact i just dipped all of my LR 2 weeks ago for my new 135g and i was just looking at the small lifeforms on the rocks today... Everything is living just fine...

be ready to snag anything out of the high salt water that you might want if there's a good hitchhiker, you never know, people have gotten a lot of cool hitchhikers, i think someone posted they got a seahorse once.

FW dip= possibility of osmotic shock to many still alive inhibitants. Whats the rational behind a FW live rock dip? just as easy to clean up liverock in freshly prepared saltwater.

I'm just wondering what type of live rock are you cleaning in FW?
