Should I get a Carpet Anemone? A local reefer is giving one away. I would love one. Here is what I know:
They need good water quality. Check.
They need good light. Check. 56 gal 150MH + 2x 65 atinic.
They eat. Check silverslides and hopefully not my midas blenny.
Good idea for this tank?
Easy to take care of?
Good anemone to get?
How do you acclimate?
How often to feed?
What do I need to know.

I personally have not had one, but I have heard from several people who have had them that you have to watch your smaller fish with them since they have a tendency to eat them.

They have a reputation to be responsible for the most fish deaths, although they are a natural host for some species of clowns. That aside you have the right lights IMO, water quality as you say is good so ok. Your tank size for a carpet IMO is a bit small they get very very large and fast too. If you are ok with relocating or limiting what gets put in your tank, I think you can have one.

Most carpets tend to like to be near or on the bottom and can get up to 2 feet wide. They like to lay sort of flat and face upwards. If you dont really have that kind of space in your tank then it might not be happy and move around and that can kill corals if you have those as well.

Love my big green carpet but it also depends on which species of carpet he is giving u you may want to find that out first. The carpet wont be afraid to eat other fish cause i lost i think 3 fish to him as we speak.
