First what kind of octopus is it? If its a blue ring they are DEADLY as in drop dead to late to call DEADLY. Second you need a tank that is sealed, pumps intakes sealed and to make sure there is no where he can get out. The size of the beak (mouth) is the size of hole he can squeeze through. Then also if you have LR you will only see him at night or sometimes when you feed him. But you can keep other things in there as long as there bigger than what he will attack but that wont attack him. But hey they are cool when you do get to watch him. HTH :D

They are very cool, but not well suited for captivity, they are escape artists like mentioned above, and very short lived, even in the wild. I would avoid getting an octopus. HTH

I have some pretty decent links on keeping octopi in captivity...e-mail me if you'd like them! drgnradio@attbi.com
They are short-lived (both in the wild in captivity)...two years at best.
O. bimaculatus/bimaculoides seem to be best suited for captive keeping, but I've seen many species listed in addition to these.
Peace...

do a search... lots of info on them, here and in the aggressive forum. Typically not recommended - good at escaping, sloppy eaters, short lived, etc..
