should i put my skimmer back on?

I have a 125 & up until about 2 weeks ago, I had a Prizm skimmer on it (i know, too small of a skimmer for a big tank). ANyways, I took it off because it wasnt skimming any goo out. I also noticed when I had the skimmer hooked up, I was getting a cyano outbreak. I took it off, and there is no cyano anymore, except for on my sandbed. The water parameters seem good, so is it worth to put it back on? Also, with the skimmer, I can't fit my canopy on.

I would say NO,but lets break this one down.#1,The skimmer is way too small to do any good on that tank.#2, when you put it on, the canopy wont fit.#3,Your tank is so young that it probably doesn't need a skimmer yet...All logic points to NO.Don't put it back on.Start saving up for a proper skimmer...

cyanobacteria eat ttraxce elements, so . . .. Protein skimmers remove SOME OF them. CYanno sliome comes from too many nutrients or minetrals, or swomething, no one knows, I think. EXCEPT nhew tanks get it where other stuff isn't growing like clams, coralline, corals. *wink*

What's a 'good' skimmer, that's not to expensive? I thought of maybe getting a sea clone in conjunction w. the Prizm? <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" /> Or one of the veturis that are rated for tanks up to 150 gallons ..... I saw one in That Pet Place, but cannot recall the name of it ........
