I was just wondering if I should run carbon in my sump. RIght now my tank is fowlr, but as soon as I get my mh's it will be reef. I am running a sump/fuge, protien skimmer and dsb.

Two of the biggest advantages to useing carbon is to get rid of any smells that the water may have and to floss (clean/clear) the water.
IMO I think it would be to your advantage to put it in while you are still in the fowlr stage.
As far as after the conversion to reef, all I can say is I run it in all of my tanks. FO-REEF-FOWLR TANKS.

All I can attest to is that I run it in both of my reef tanks and have a yellow tang in each one. To this date (2 years) I have yet to have any issues with this.
It keeps my tanks nice and clear.

From what I read. I am going to run carbon ocationally on my reef due to it strips the water of some of the trace elements needed. Just my opinion
