I would like to see some pics of either Black longnose tangs or Scopas tangs to see if it is worth paying for a Black Longnose.
Thank YOu

Scopas tangs are cool, but black longnose? Not worth the money. Like most tangs in the "longnose" group, they tend to get uglier with age. And what if that $200+ fish decides to develop a good case of ich? Worth it u may say? :nope:

Liontamer- no offence or anything but that was not very nice... flipper can do what ever he wants with his tank. He has his own opinions and everyone does. He may think the longnose tangs are worth it. I think they are stunning but we all have our own opinions. Please don't but in and say that what he did was not worth it...
Good night :sleepy:

I agree with you Mukiwa, except that it's Matt that is interested in the long nose, not me. I have my Scopas and a Hippo and that's enough tang for me.

I think a nice scopas can be a stunning fish, and the black tang is quite 'different' if you are familiar with tangs. Pretty, yes.
But I don't think Liontamer was that off base in asking what happens when your very $$ fish dies. We all have to think about these things and bringing it up doesn't, IMO, mean that it was not a very nice thing to do. Ugliness is a matter of personal preference... :D
Certainly people do what they want but a reality check may not hurt. What if? indeed. I also think we need to consider WHY certain fish are so expensive...are they rare in the wild? Do they have a poor survival record? Is it worth risking either way?
No harm in asking questions and just trying to keep in mind what is "lost" in what we write. Liontamer may not have meant anything other than "IMO." A contrary answer in this type of forum is not really butting in, JMO :)
