your like my pet twin!
rabbits like to back up into corners to "do their business"... so i put a litter box in every corner in the house (it was actually easier because when i got him i was living in an apt with 4 corners...). each time he had to go he would go to a corner and jump into the litter box. after about a week i started to see which ones he went to most and removed the others. then i was able to get him down to one box and i started to move that one further and further away from the wall. about 4 weeks and the box was in the middle of the living room. now i can put it anywhere and he will go find it, i always keep it in the same place now, but i was reinforcing the behavior.
whenever i need to take him someplace for a visit, like my parents house or wherever, i put the litter box down and then put him down in it and let him explore from there. once he knows where it is he will always go back to it when he needs to go. he doesn't even like to go to the bathroom outside, when hes out for walks in the back yard he will scratch at the door letting me know he wants to go find his box and when we go to the park i bring a small one with me or he might explode holding it.

Thanks mkzimms, I will give it a try. Currently i only let him loose in the room that his cage is in. He will go back in his cage when he has to go. Now all i have to do i teach him to look for the litterbox in other rooms
