Rare zoas.. Rare lords.. Shrooms.. fancy brains.. show them and if you don't mind, show what you paid for them.
Trying to get ideas of what I'm after...

Neither probably "rare" but you don't see them in peoples tanks very often.
Watermelon Chalice. Echinophyllia sp./I]

Montipora spongodes.

nice how much were you able to get them for
won the auction for 20.50 plus 28 shipping.
Spanko: I just wanted something 'different' and yours seemed so cool looking.
I like your last coral, and the monti looks awesome. I have a hodags that looks pretty similar to that, but yours has some serious polyps shooting out.
I love all coral, but I guess I just get tired of seeing the same bubble/yellow polyps/brown zoas/xenia in every LFS I go to. Yours are certainly rare and 'different'. Props.

woops.. forgot I shouldn't post that kind of link :p
Anyways. looks like 2 polyps with a baby coming out.
I guess I didn't get that bad of a deal then.

not bad at all. they are super slow growers though. good thing you got a 2 polyp frag. my single polyp frag never made it

What did you end up doing then? Just buying more? You have three now according to that pic?

i bought 3 polyp frag that he had been growing. since i knew it was growing, i jumped on it. its now 4 but honestly the growth rate drives me mad. 1 polyp a month would be a lucky thing haha

I like the chalice and toxic lava. I am at the stage now that I pretty much have all the typical coral that I wanted to acquire now that I am back up and running. I will be picky with my future purchases. Don't chalice frags come small and grow slow too?

I'm in the same boat as you.. going to try to get some more fancy stuff now... I do still want to get a sun coral though...
I've never been that fascinated by chalice coral...think they're somewhat 'blah'...but I may try one and see what the fuss is about.

Well if I got one, I would want it to be the color of Spankos!!
I thought my duncan was rare when I first got it but it seems that a lot of folks have them now. I used to have some dendros that were nice but I had a feeding problem at the time due to my yellow tang and shrimp. The shrimp that I have now really don't bother me during my coral feeding. My only thing with dendros and sun coral and others like it is that I will be avoiding coral that have to be fed. I wish more of my montipora would sell at the LFS so I can get more credit!! If I could build up some nice credit, then I could really start looking for some rare coral.
