Shrimp and Hippo

Hello;
I bought a clean up crew from salt water fish .com and 3 of my cleaner shrimp were eaten by my hippo and clown fish. Is this normal? I thought they would leave them alone. I know it was them because I saw they going after the shrimp as soon as I put the shrimp in the tank.

i have a cleaner and some peps in with a hippo and a big tomato clown and no problems.

Doesn't sound right...hippos will normally prefer algae based foods. I have a hippo in with 3 peppermints...2 skunks...and 2 blood reds...never been a issue with my hippo wanting a shrimp snack.Now...if you added the shrimp without properly acclamating them and they were dead(or in very poor condition) then maybe they'd consider them as food...but it would be odd for the tang or clown to munch alive and healthy shrimp.:thinking:
