Shrimp freak out

I had my hands in my tank last night, after lights out, I was fixing a coral. I saw something brown and translucent looking dart around the tank a couple of times then go into hiding. I don't have anything brown like that in my tank so I was kinda freaking out. I got out my flashlight and went hunting for it. I found one of my peppermint shrimp perched on a rock. I snapped a picture because it looked weird. I noticed eggs/larvae on her rear. After i took the picture, she swam to the top of the tank near the powerhead and released all the egg/larvae into the tank. It was a feast from there, the clowns pigged out.
...I guess my question is, do shrimp lay eggs or did she release live shrimp babies?

this is her afterwards, looking ragged.

thanks, I wonder how difficult it would be to raise them. I would never be comfortable enough to attempt. well, my fish got a nice midnight snack.

I now have a new respect for those who sell these critters to us. Bless their hearts for all the trouble. I love my little shrimps but all babies will be fish food I'm afraid.
Oh I know, lol. My clowns had a feast
