I have a Red Banded Goby with a Tiger Strip Pistol Shrimp. I like the combination... they will need a sand bed, 2" minimal.

I have several pairs of goby/shrimp mutualists. Randell's shrimp seem to pair up with about any shrimp goby. I feed my gobys cyclop-ezee and mysis. Also spot feed the shrimps with squid or mysis every few days. One problem with shrimp gobys: they do not do to well with aggresive feeders like tangs. They become afraid and stay in their burrows if too much action is going on in the tank. However, with a peaceful community they come out all the time with their shrimp.

would a jawfish, 2 firefish, a clown or two, a royal gramma, and a damselfish qualify as an aggressive tank?

I have a yellow watchman goby who has no problem staring down a Maroon Clown when she gets to close to the goby's "burrow" - it's paired with a Tiger pistol shrimp.
