I never even see my fire shrimp..HOWEVER..they don't clean the tank at all of algae. Unless you overfeed and need something that eats food besides a fish. They are not part of the tank CUC. They are called cleaners because they clean the fish of ich parasites...and no it isn't a cure for ich. I'm sure they clean other things off of fish, I just don't know what.
The fish will actually go to the cleaner shrimp and get taken care of. My cleaner would get on the gobys back and take a ride while it cleaned him. That's why everytime you put your hand in the tank the cleaner gets on...they are looking and picking for anyting on your hand.

hmmm so guys prefer the cleaner shrimp more?? ah-well I was hoping the fire shrimp might do the same as the cleaner. But thank you!
not in my tank when i had one. He just sat around waited for food and put on a good show. Didnt even clean the fish.
I have seen my skunk attempt to clean the fish, he has cleaned my hand and arm, and honestly, puts on a better show than the fire.
I hade a skunk and he would clean my blue hippo tang. Wenever i put my arm in the tank he would jump off a rock and start cleaning, especially under my finger nails.

My fire shrimp cleans my fish all the time, when I just have on my actnics my 2 foot eel roams the tank and the fire shrimp will jump on and start cleaning and stay on..I do have both cleaner and fire shrimp..IMO I think they both do a good job with cleaning..I have 2 fire and 2 cleaner shrimp
