purple mushroom, you don't have to feed them.
??????
You dont have to feed polyps..
I would go with the yellows..They spread very very fast...Then you might be able to trade some for other corals

Do they not get big in size??
My little 1 gal pico I don't think would be big enough for them, I much more prefer the buttons.

The polyps them selfs dont get real big, but they spread fast. So ammounting a fragable size wont take very long, plus the skirts get decent length which looks neat waving around in the water

Oh boy I just don't know what to do. The blue mushroom and yellow polyp are available in my home town. The guy whom has the zoanthids lives in the next town 30 min away which is not that far but for some reason I cannot get him to send me pictures of what they look like.
They sound nice for colors but........

Both the poylps and the shroom are suitable for your 1gal. The mushroom will not reproduce as quickly but will grow new heads. Your yellow polyps will reproduce quickly filling space.
SO they both have there advantage and disadvantage. It's up to you, what color and shape do you like the best.
I think a nice large purple/blue mushroom would look more dramatic in a small tank like that.

How easy is it to remove a yellow polyp if need be??
Both of these are free if I want them. They are both singles that have branched off of the main ones and he just puts them into his fuge so he said I could have them for free......

My only hesitation on the zoas is that I have a frag of the neon green buttons that were doing well in my previous 10 gal. When I downsized my mini ocean to a 1 gal and wanted to keep these I took them into my lfs to have them glued onto a piece of rock. From that point on 2 wks now they have not opened.
They are not soft and gooy, they are still hard but will not open. I am going to try a different location in the tank for them to see if they will be better suited.
My previous tank was PC lighting 3 watts per gal and they were in quite strong flow
My 1 gal is PC 7 watts per gal

try to get some flow over the top of your zoas. if you already zoas i would go with the mushroom.
ESPECIALLY if you can really get a blue mushroom for free. yellow polyps are a dime a dozen. Blue mushrooms can cost $100 for a rock with 4 mushrooms on it.

I think I will get the mushroom then. The yellow polyps don't really interest me a whole lot. I just went to my little tank, I lowered the light a bit as it sits up quite high. The buttons are very solid and seem to have grown a bit they seem more swollen in size the main part.
I placed them down lower in more flow too.
I never new that blue mushrooms were that expensive. Are there different colors of them??
The fellow that offered it to me said that they are the regular blue/purple ones. He has a very nice cluster of them in his tank, this person did send me photos of this tank.
I also have my million dollar orange yuma ric in this tank, so something purple might just be very nice.

well the blues are not as expensive as purples, BUT they are still not cheap.
I just like the looks of them better then yellow poylps.

Well I got the frags today, oh my god did he ever give me a tiny mushroom but I know they will grow in no time. I use to have mushroom in my other tank.
It sure is beautiful though, such a deep beautiful purple/blue it really stands out in my little tank.
Now all I have to do is remove some normal red mushrooms from a rock that I would like to attach this purple/blue one too.
Plus I did get one frag of the yellow polyp he had. If they get to unruly I will remove some and take them to the lfs.
Now I have another person offering me for 5.00 each frag some buttons. The only thing is this guy will not provide me a picture of what they look like so I am very hesitant to say yes I will take some.
So I am really happy with what I got today, I moved my green buttons to stronger flow and lowered the light. Hopefully they will open soon.
