Shy fish?

Hello All,
After I read all the replys to the questions I had posted about the "Coral Beauty" I decided to purchase him, and he is a beautiful fish, he is eating well and looks to be non-stressed, But he never comes out of my live rock he is always hiding, he pokes out just enough to grab some food when it drifts by, he has been in my tank for just short of Three days, his tank mates are Two Clown fish, and One Damsel, and a Med. size clean up crew, no one seems to be bothering him, I'm wondering if he is just shy or not used to his new home yet? or am I just being paranoid?

That is pretty much how mine has behaved since day one.It has been a year now,and he still likes to stay in the rockwork.Even when feeding,he rarly strays far from his favorite hole.

yeah, as salty said this is perfectly normal for a cb. they are indeed beutiful fish. he might become more bold, but might not. cb's feel safe in the rockwork. the more rockworks, the better they do. they eat better, feel safe, and are just more comfortable with lots of hiding places. bo

Mine started off being really shy...barely ever saw him.....now he spends the day slowly weaveing in and out of 100 lbs of lr....sometimes I see him...sometimes I don't......get close to the tank he darts behind the rock....wait a lil while he'll swim out for a few then hes gone again......just the way they are I guess......but.....I really like mine.... a beautiful fish and so far a outstanding addition....mine eats virtually everything offered....and still grases all day lookin for stuff on the lr....hope yours does as well

My CB is the same way. He comes out often but spends more time in or behind a rock somewhere.

My CB, must be the execption. Mine rarley hides, he swims about the tank all day long. Each fish has it's own personality, I say wait a couple of days and see how it goes. Either way I am sure you will be happy.
