Shy Green Star Polyps???

I have a little spot on my LR where there are some green stars living happily. Yesterday, they did not really come out much, and today they did not come out at all... Why is this happening? How should I be feeding them? How often?

It may be because they are not getting enough light. Try moving them closer to the top of the tank. That did the trick for me.

Mine do this quite often. I wouldn't be alarmed about just a day or so. Keep an eye on your water conditions, though. Hope that helped.

Mine have done the same thing from time to time. Mostly I think it has to do with the hermits crawling across them in my tank. Mine are right on top of the reef.

probably not a big deal, my polps and mushrooms will sometimes close up for days at a time, but then come back just fine.

mine do this about once a week for a few hours then reopen and about once a month the close up for a few days soon after there is a spurt of new growth. so I think they might do this to save up on energy to grow out more not sure though./

have you done anything with your tank lately? changeed bulbs, added some resin, etc...?
GSP is kinda sensetive to this.

I wouldnt worry .:D When I got my green stars they were open and beautiful for days (pride of the tank) Then about a week after I got them they closed up for three days and didn't open up.
After those three days they now open every day and are an awsome bright green. What I like to do to show my friends when they come over is just have your blue lights on and the green just glows very bright. Good luck very nice coral.:D

dont worry, when i bought mine, they were opening up and everything, then about 2 weeks later, they stopped openning up...i wnt to the LFS and he said that they go through a "waxing" (if you will) period where they get this sort of coat over them and then the coat kind of floats off...you cant see it, its not what you think, but it gets the debris off of it....so no worrys, if it doesn't open up within 3days...wait one more day, and if again it doesn't, then you should worry....
also, it may have been caused by a change in something to your tank IE: new addition, bulb change, temp flux, blah blah blah....
anyways, yeah, under actinics, they are beautiful

Mine used to do this until I put them in an area where a strong current hits them every couple of seconds. They haven't closed in a couple of months and they look much better.

here is mine I have to keep the current low for them if they get a lot of current the close up and dont reopen. each coral is different and you have to find the best place for each individual coral.

Right after this thread started, I encountered the same problem again. After not opening for 3 days, I moved them to another spot in the reef, and they opened up the next morning.
