Sick?????? Bubble Coral

Anyone know why this coral isnt opening all the way??? And what is the black color on the hard shells or "plates"??? Every day i see more bubbles appering,From none to about 9 , but they are soo small. I dont know if i should just let it be and see.It is looking better than it did 2 weeks ago.Just wondering if there was a quick fix.

I have one that looks identical to yours. I got it for free from someone moving and couldnt keep it. I posted mine and everyone told me to feed it mysis shrimp and it should come back around in time. Mine will get about 9 bubbles or so too and then no bubbles at all. I was told to spot feed it as well so try that.

That's it's skeleton showing and it does look to be in pretty bad shape. I don't know if bubble coral can regenerate over already dead skeleton or not?

it will take a while because the skeleton has corraline growin on it. if the flesh is coming back and you see more and more bubbles every day then that is a good thing , and it can recover. just keep your water good and dont do anything that will cause spikes that will stress it out any more.

Salt.... Is there anything i can do to remove the corraline??? short of using a q-tip? Where does the corraline come from???

corraline comes from your tank, it is in the water column and it grows with calcium and lighting and good water conditions. .... the same stuff that your bubble needs to live.
so unfortunately it is probably not even worth the stress of scraping it off the bone with a razor. it will just take a little longer for it to grow back.

So then that is normal???? Do you suggest just leave it alone and see what happenes?? It is really better than it was a week ago Thank you for the explaination. Appreciate it.

yea i would just leave it alone. feed it when the feeding tentacles are out often, it will help alot. just keep the water params as perfect as you can.
