sick puffer

Please help. My puffer is acting like he doesn't feel well. He sits on the bottom for long periods of time. When he swims he curls up his tail. He gets pale at times. The other fish don't seem to be bothering him, he eats at feeding time, but something is not right. Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

ok other than the pale part that sounds like my puffer.. that part i do not get. my porcupine puffer will lay on the bottom for hours.. that is just what they do they try to blend in with the surroundings.. mine i have found out just sits on the bottom when the light is on.. or when he is hungry.. but when the light goes off is very playfull.
what are the water levels at.. anything high like ammonie.. or low ph.. as they are sensative to changes.. that could be why he is pale.
