Sick tank

Ok, well got home today and my valentini puffer dead on bottom of tank and my stars and stripes puffer has right eye that is cloudy/puffy.
Tank paramteres are all good, the only thing I did was put a ship in there two weeks ago that I got from a friend. It was scrubbed down thoroughly before placement.
So I just did a 25 gallon water change and removed the ship. By the way its a 55 gallon tank fish only no live rock. Tank has been established for over 6-7 months now with no other problems. I also dosed with melafix.
Any other suggestions?????
Thanks,
Mark

Check the ship it could be a "freshwater only" ornament, thus polluting the tank with god knows what... Sorry hope things go well. Watch the Melafix, it can reduce O2 levels in the tank. IMO do another water change tomorrow as well

Are there other fish in the tank? Did the fish show any symptoms a few days before they died or was it very sudden? How long have you had both puffers?

yes. I have a diamond goby, christmas wrasse and maroon clown. Both puffers have been in there for at least 6 months. My valentini might have acted weird not really sure because I have been working long hours but my wife never said anything about it.

How are the other fish doing? Is everyone acting normal? What kind of tank did the ornament come out of?

Well some good news from the bad. My stars and tripe puffer is making it still and eye looks a little better than yesterday. Will dose again tonight with Melafix and he is eating normal.

.......and I thought ornaments like that only hurt my eyes.
Just kidding. Eating and a improvement are very good signs. I think he'll be OK, keep us posted. Any comments on the melafix? I've heard mixed reviews.

Well another fatality, stars and stripe puffer didn't mkae it. Also my diamond goby has not been seen in a few days and my christmas wrasse didn't eat last night but I know he hides a lot. I lost him once for like 16 days and then out of the blue there he was.
I guess it would be safe to say that my tank is crashing and I have no reasonable explanation for it.
