i have a sick lion i dont know what is wrong with him he has clouded eyes and white spots all over his body also his fins have black dot on them and his fin are falling apart what dose he have and what is the best way to teart it thanks

So it reads like a few things are going on, we can address these in a few minutes...but right now can you tell me about your tank, and this lion?. what type of lion, how new to your tank, your tanksetup, water chemistry parameters, and anything you can think is important.
Okay whats going on..simple stuff first. the cloudy eyes and disintegrating fins=bacterial infection, the white spots could be ich. Most likely the primary problem, bacteria is usually a secondary problem when the fishes immune system starts to deteriate. Can you describe the white spots? fluffy, flat, focal pinpoints, cottony. Are there alot of them on the body? fins? where are they?
Can you explain these black spots? what do they look like?
We can start treatment of the ich and the bacterial infection ASAP. But i want to make sure we're talking about the right problem

the white spots are like a conton type and the black spots are like dark rings on the oter edge and the millde is light black the tank has been set up 4 about 4 months the ph is at 8.4 and the salt is fine and the anmoine is about 0.4 and there is no copper in the tank its a 55 gallon tank with 45 pounds of live rock and a bio filter and a silkter and a seacole portienskimmer i dont know about the nirtrate any info will help

So if your tank has been setup for 4 months and your still seeing ammonia any idea whats going on? Are you using the lionfish to cycle this tank?
The cottony white spots are everywhere? or just on the fins. Does it look like the fish is covered w/ salt specks (like in salt n pepper?)
Is there some way you can post a picture of this sick fish.
These black rings as you say, is it the normal coloration of the fish? that you are mistaking for a problem. Again what type of lion is this? No such thing as a turkish lion.
Many of these lions have ring like patterns on there pectoral fins.
How are the eyes of this fish? still cloudy?
As far as treatment if the eyes are still cloudy, do you have a smaller quarentine tanksetup? like 20gals? do you also have a good water soluble antibiotic like SW maracyin II?
W/ your next reply we will decide to start treating, BUT a picture would make life easier.

yes i have a 22 gallon tank but not set up and the lion is a v lion yes it looks like salt all over is body and no i do not have a pic of the lion and what do you mean what do i have cylceing the tank i have a damel and a red lion and a clown and 3 line damel and a eel and a bat fish and a cleaning wrasse so how should i teart the lion he is the frist fish i had i dont want to lose him money is no promlbe any info will help thanks be back soon

no none of the other fish are sick or have any white spots on them i went to the pet stroe and he said that i have to use copper to teart him and use a qurteen tank but i dont have one set up he said it would take three weeks before i could put him in to teart him what should i do no pet store will realy tell me what is wrong with him they just take a gusse what is wrong how can i teart him in the main tank what can i use i have live rock and corals in the tank any info will help thanks

So let me see if i understand this, you have 7 fish in this 55 galllon aquarium, which is less than 4 months old and right now the Volitans lion (which will outgrow this tank w/in the next few months) is the only one which is sick.
Okay time to fill up the 22 gallong quarentine tank w/ main tank water. Apparently the lionfish has both ich, and a bacterial infection. His he still eating?
So first thing put the volitans in the Q tank, and start reducing the salinity to 1.009. You do have a good quality floating hydrometer to measure salinity? reduce the salinity over the next 3 days (2 changes/day), once you have it at 1.009 we will start treating the lion w/ antibiotics to clear the eyes and fin degeneration. I would also continue to feed the lion cube foods or frozen food (try to soak his food in garlic extract.). In the mean time i would do a search here and at other boards for hyposalinity, garlic, and cloudy eyes.
Keep an eye on the other fish as they might start getting sick as well.

I'm sure of a few thinge here. The volitans has a bad bacterial infection (fin loss and cloudy eyes). The ich IS a problem. But the black spots or circles i think are just normal pectoral camoflague. I've never had a black spot problem on my lion in over 10 yrs. We are battling a well stocked 4 month old tank which appears to have a blip of ammonia. From what i can read the main tank is just fish w/ some live rock and corals. My feeling is to remove the corals to this 22gal tank, and treat in the main tank (hypo w/ antibiotics) since everyone might be getting "stressed" soon. I would love others opinions.

no the lion has not eaten in about a 1 12 is there any way i colud teart him in the main tank and the lion dose not eat frozen foods i have try 4 a long time to try to get him to eat the foods but he refuse it he will only eat live foods plus the guy in the pet store said that if i teart the lion out of the tank that it will heal him but soon as he got back in the main tank that he would get sick agian because of the sutffe is in the tank and also will a water change get rid of most of the bactear in the tank and inprove his chances to get better and if so how much should i change any info will help alot because i am stumt thanks
