I have a 30 gal tank , I have had it since mid October I have a purple fire fish and two clowns , my question is does the clip on filter and the heater Have to be on opposite sides of tank.

No you can place them any were. You may want to add a power head for more circulation.

Ya I do have a power head but that should be opposite of filter right ?

They dont have to be. I have my filter on the back wall and on the other side of back wall I have a power head facing towards the top front center.
