This one's thrown me for a loop-
A flame angel that has been in my tank since I cycled it (8 months ago) died suddenly last night. It was in perfect condition when I found it (except of course, it was dead). There were no spots, splotches, cloudy eyes, distended stomach, signs of stress or having been attacked, NO NOTHING! It was eating up until it died. In retrospect, it may have been acting a bit sluggish for a day or so, but nothing to warrant any attention. What is this silent Killer??
Tank Stats:
55 Gallon fish only (was set to move to reef in <1 month)
2 eel gobies
1 royal gramma
1 lollypop tang (like a powder brown)
20 Astrea snails
10 red leg hermits
Formerly 1 flame angel
Water Stats:
RO/DI water
nitrate, nitrite, ammonia = 0
pH = 8.3
salinity = 33 ppt
temp = 77-79 (25-26C)
I'm stumped! And what really gets me is that the tang is just fine!
