Best is aragonite
Southdown is aragonite and cheap
Silica will work when non other is available, not as pretty, get the whitest you can find,perhaps even cover it with some aragonite.
Many have used silica sand with success.

Since inquiring about the CC vs Sand I have been looking for some white sand at Lowes and Home Depot even Walmart. I can't find the name brands you have been saying. Where else can you look?
