Silicone sealant??

I have a tube of silicone caulking and I wondered if this was safe to seal something with?
I just bought a new nano with an auto top off that has the two little bottles that you fill with fresh water and place upside down in a reservoir and let "drip" in to replace evaporated water. Only trouble is that one of the bottles has a very small hole about the size of a pea in the bottom (or top when it is upside down). I need to seal it and I wanted to know if this type was okay to use, and since it is such a small amount... I don't want it to leach things into my water.
The brand it GE. It's "silicon ll XST Paintable formula" says "all weather, and water tight".
Should I cure it in some water baths and such before placing, if indeed I can use it. If so, How do I go about this???
Thanks folks!

I doubt it's safe. Pure silicon is not paintable. If it's a "paintable formula" then there is something added to it to make it paintable.
The home improvement store stuff to get is GE Silicon I, Window & Door, and make sure it contains no mildew inhibitors.

Don't know if it is too late or not for this but, I have found DAP window and door has the same ingredients as the DAP aquarium and All Glass aquarium silicone. I checked out the MSDS sheets.
Here is a pic of the tube.

Yes I see them, but you'll also notice that each of the two ingredients is only 1-5% of the total volume of the product. What is in the other 90-98%?
OSHA only requires that MSDS contain the ingredients that are hazardous to humans. There are a lot of things that are harmless to humans but are hazardous to a marine envionment.
I'm not saying there is any problem, I'm saying that the stuff I listed above is the only one I know of. You'll need to do your own research and decide if you are comfortable proceeding.

I just went to ace hardware and bought aquarium specific sealant. Clear and is 100% silicone. It was like 2 bucks for a huge tube. Thanks for the feedback though.

Yikes. I got that stuff myself because it was recommended to use in my tank to seal the foam wall to the back glass.
Now I hear its potentially dangerous?!?! Glad I stumbled into this thread before I put it on.

Don't misunderstand me... what I was saying is that the photos and data posted do not prove to me that it's not dangerous.
That doesn't mean that it is though.

The GE type I Window and door has more ingredients listed on the MSDS sheets. So if only the hazarous to humas ingredients must be listed then it would be more dangerous then the DAP brand.
Now, I and many others have used both and have not had any problems. I unlike most others, don't change my tank water either. That is another topic tho. So please folks don't smak my hands in this therad.
So I guess it comes down to what has already been said by SCSInet," You'll need to do your own research and decide if you are comfortable proceeding."
