silicone will NOT adhere to plexi but it will stick to it. WHat this means is that if you glass is still in tact then by all means use the silicone to stick your brace back on.
For example you can use plexi to build baffles in a glass sump with no problem using silicone and they wont move.

Life~Reefer;
Use aquarium silicone.

I did a little research on silicone and found out DAP window and door in the blue tube has the same ingredients as the All Glass and the DAP Aquarium silicone does per the MSDS sheets.
I have also used GE type I window and door. As many others have. It has another ingredient that the DAP and the aquarium silicones don't tho.
Here is a pic.

Jas1;
Silicone doesn't bond plexi to glass. It will hold it in place. If your idea is to make a triangle in the corner for your OF, then I think you would be just fine using plexi.

Thanx. That is what I thinking. Just box in the corners on the back. The reason I want to use plexi instead of glass is to eliminate the plexi sleeve you have to put over the glass OF box which has the teeth/slots at the top. With the OF box being all plexi it will be easier to bring the returns up through the OF box. If any of that made sense? I hope so

If your drilling the bottom it does.
If that is the case......Make darn sure the bottom isn't tempered. The majority of tanks have tempered bottoms and standard float glass on the sides.
If you would like others opinions on this you should start up a thread.

depending on the tank, the bottom might be tempered or it might not be. the bottom on my 40 IS tempered so I drilled a hole @ the bottom of the back panel, and used an 90 elbow to bring the return pipe up. Worked like a champ.

I made sure to ask if it was tempered. It doesn't have any warning stickers. You can see the pics in my "125 GAL UPGRADE" thread. I even made them state on the receipt that it's not tempered and the store mgr signed it
