Silicone

I picked up some silicone at Lowes tonight. They had two types, one was 100% silicone and the other didn't say. I bought the 100%, took it home, and read the instructions and it says that it's not made for aquarium use. It's GE Silicone II. It's in a white tube with gold at the top and on the side it says "Household Glue". Is this "not for aquarium use" statement just a disclaimer or do they really mean it? I will be using it on the bulkhead of my refugium. Thanks.

not sure but why take the chance if it just for a bulkhead u don't need much just go to the LFS and get a small tube of clear silicon made by all glass aquarium

LFS doesn't carry anything but some fish and a little bit of food. "If it's just for the aquarium" then can I use it? What would be harmful? If it's 100% silicone, then it should be the same stuff as what others without the "not for aquarium use" note use. Right?

ummmm
Not to sound smart here, but if a tube of silicone says "not for aquarium use" I would not use it for aquarium use.
They may mean that it's not intended to be used to silicone the glass edges together - possible.
Bulkheads should not need to have silicone as mentioned.

OMG Broomer, you've changed your looks LOL getting into the DIY thing huh? Anyway, my understanding is NOT to use the Silicon II but that Silicon I is okay, that said, I'm using the Silicone from ACE hardware, 1) it's cheaper and 2) although it say's not for aquarium use, it also say's okay for FDA inspected food handling plants. I personally think the not for aquarium use thing is more for the liability issue than anything else, i.e. an all glass tank "falling" apart. As long as the silicone doesn't have any anti-bactirial or anti-mold stuff in it, it should be okay.
Note: I have NO money so if the above statement results in a total loss of aquarium inhabitants, I cannot be held responsible. Well I could be I guess but it really wouldn't do you any good LOL
Later,
Paul
