silk plants

is there a reason why i couldn't go to a craft type store and buy silk plants for my seahorse tank???

I've been working on that...I've be using shells and platic plants and gluing with super glue gel.
I also made this piece from a cheap plastic can drain and plastic plants

I've seen some silk plants made for aquariums at my LFS that are made without the metal parts. I have not used any of those, and I've stuck with the live and plastic plants only...IDK, better safe than sorry I guess. I just don't know how the fabric will react with the saltwater and I don't want to take any chances with my horses.

I'd second that. Fabric is made up of fibers which would deteriated and muck up your water.

Exactly, that's what I would be afraid of...do you think that we think too much??

I used some I got on the drs site. They did fine. Didnt seen to loose thier color. They did tend to have a little more algea.
 
I have silk plants from my LFS in my pony tank and I have never had a problem. Just have to wash it off every now and then. HTH
