I bought a six line yesterday and as soon as I put him into my tank he hid. It is day 2 and still no sign of him. Are they known to be shy fish overall, or just in the beginning?

In the beginning, he will be shy. It may take a week or two for him to feel comfortable. If he does not come out to feed, try a small bit of live brine after you feed your regular foods.

Great! I am glad that he acclimated well then. Make sure you watch the little guy. They can be known as jumpers also.

Yeah no kiddin ! Dont leave your tank open when you feed. I was trying to catch a little Lunar in a tank next to 50 6 lines and I most have startled them cuz next thing I know one goes right down the back of my shirt. Scare the crap outta me :scared:
