six-line wrasses

Recently I have become intrigued by this fish, but I am not sure about its behavior. I have seen some stuff about them picking on shrimp. Is this something that I can expect, cause I really dig the six-line, but I am not sure if it will behave in my reef. Can you guys tell me a little about your experiences with this little guy. Thanks

I like my six line too. I have not seen him bothering the shrimp but he does picked on my scooter occasionally and he chases the damsel sometimes. For the most part he minds his own business.

I just got one a few weeks ago, I really like it, I don't notice mine picking on anything but it is very active darting in and out of the rocks. One thing to be aware of is that they eat pods so if you want a scooter blenny or mandarin they will compete for that food source.

Thanks alot guys. The info you gave me is consistent with what is available on the net. I saw the thing about picking on shrimp, so it set off an alarm, but it did not sound right. I have 12 shrimp, so I was worried that he may start killing them. I also saw that the six-line serve as cleaners, but I really doubt that.

I just got one. Poor thing, he just got his butt handed to him by my flame angel. He is (sixline) hiding in the shrooms. He does come out once in awhile, I am sure he will be ok, seems like a brave little fish.

Added a 6 === line wrasse to my 90 on March 16 in hope that it would help me in a fight against flatworms. No such luck. All in all though it has been a positive addition to my reef. Gets along with the both cleaner shrimp, chromis, purple firefish, and false percs, doesn't bother larger snails but does a good job eating the tiny 1/8th or less> inch snails that are all over the tank.
Only real problem that I have with him is he just will not sit still for a picture :(

sixl ines are very beuatiful. Does anyone think there would be a problem in a FOWLR 30 gallon, with a perc as its only other mate?

1hr later and the peppermint is dead. I shoved it near an emerald crab and he's asking for cocktail sauce now. Not sure why my sixline is going loco

Hi, My sixline wrasse is a good little fish. I have had him for about two years. For some reason he is rather small and never grew as big as some that I have seen. He (she?) never bothers anything but helps keep my brissle worm population in line. My sixline is best friends with my small flame angel. They like to swim side by side and tease and play together. Almost looks like they are doing a mating dance, but neither gets hurt. I think it is a game with them, they seem to keep each other company. My sixline never bothers the shrimp or the micro hermits....he is too small with a tiny little mouth. I'm not saying they are all good like this one though. I have seen some that are 50 percent larger than mine. I think mine is full grown as he has not grown any and two years. Lesley
