well i got it like 5 hours and it was making a cacoon thing near the rock and it has been hiding alot in the rock, is this normal? Will he eventually come out? also he hasnt been eating alot, iv been feeding him shrimp mysis and flakes, is any of this normal and will he eventually eat more swim out rock area?

Don't worry. Most fish will hide for a little while until they feel comfortable.

i have one and mine did not make a caccoon thing and mine was eating right away i dont know if its normal or not ive never heard of the caccoon thing

I have a six line wrazze.. I don't think he ever made a cocoon. However, he does hide a lot. I've not seen him since a few weeks ago.... wonder if he's doing ok...Will a pair of wrazze do better?? will the come out more often???

too early to panic.....give it time. its not uncommon for a fish to hide for a day or 2.

mine's been in my tank for over 6 months and STILL makes a cocoon when it sleeps. absolutely normal.

What do you all mean by a "cocoon"?

simply that... they make a filamentous cocoon around them for protection.

1) you can see it
2) they leave it behind and it gets eaten or in the filtration

either ive never seen it before or jus never relized it is that why they lose color at night?

Some wrasses will actually bury themselves in the sand at night...they are an odd group of fish

yea. fish hide when you first get it. my big and bad (lol) niger hide for 2-3 days upon arrival to my tank. now he is the most active fish.

Totally normal. My sixline did the same thing. Just watch to make sure he does'nt get bullied to much.
