skilter 400?

Ok - I have a skilter 400 on my 45 gallon tank - anyone know what this is and if its any good? Please let me know - how do I know when the protein skimmer is working and is it suppose to make that much noise when I open the valve?

when i got my first tank i had one. could not get it to work either. it's crap. I just used it as a filter for a couple of years and then gave it away

Thanks - I've decided thats what I'm going to do for now also because the filter works just fine - the protein skimmer - sucks!!!!
