Ok I have a Skilter 250 (Supreme).
Now... The potentially dangerous protein compounds and toxins that adhere to the surfae of the bubbles, creating a frothy waste continues to accumulate until it pushes its way into the collection tray.(thats one long a** sentence)
That froth s not appearing withing the collection tray....I lost my instruction booklet ::sigh:: Now it was set up properly but I don't knwo why this isnt coming out. The Skilter seems to be working fine. Circulation within the tank is very good. Any input or help would be greatly appreciated. -Fubs

How large tank?
What are you keeping in tank?
How long tank been up and running?
Adding any water conditioners or chemical additives?
My Skilter 250 has never produced much either. I don't want to bum you out, but I don't think it ever will..
I think Mr. Steve Salty posted a reply here somewhere regarding some modifications he's made to his Skilter that sounded pretty clever and easy to try. Maybe try a search on Skilter and you will find the posts. A little more information on your tank would be helpful too.

Well I [posted on the other marine board with my tank specs...but

Thanks for hte input, I look into the "article".

Oh Salintiy is 1.021,
Mr Salty- the problems you are discussing are those of the sounds of the skilter, as with my problems are with this suppose frosty stuff. Thanks for the neat trick tho.

We are also working on improving the efficiacy of the thing. They really DON'T WORK as a skimmer. The "froth" doesnt collect in the cup.You should get a liquid in there. Your tank is probably too new for the skimmer to be pulling stuff out. To tell you the truth, although the FILTER part works great on these units,The skimmer is a piece of CRAP. I have one,I know. Once again,I agree SUNDOG, mine also is the 400 and the tank never had a heavy Bio load. Now its A QT/HT and has even less. I think overall it's a good setup, but noisy as hell. Just run it at night when your sleeping,or during the day, when your at work.STEVE

Well u guys give out alot of good advice and directions. My skilter is no longer as loud as it used to be. I took a closer look to the parts and the setup of the skilter, I don't have a goo, but I do have more of like a "presperation" of water in there(not much tho)
I'll give my skimmer more time to collect junk. Today I will be going to get some LR....YEA!
Mr. Salty/sundog- I have been reading alot of old msgs on this board and it seems that you are the 2 who give out most of the help or responses. You are both considered experts in my opinion and I will be asking more questions as they come. But thanks for all the info your putting out for the less noligatable.

There are alot of people on this board. I just have no life, that gives me time to sit and watch my tank, and the board maybe more than others. Credit should be given to evryone on this board...Too many too mention, but certain ones know who they are. STEVE

I added an air pump and put the airstone inside the large column. I disconnected the air tube that came with the skilter. Now it works good and doesn't make noise.
