Ooohhh sounds like your skimmer is doing a great job!
Most of them let you attach a hose and a larger collection container. You might need to look into doing that.

I dont think I can, It no big deal, I dont mind cleaning it. I mean it takes what mabey two mins. max.
I glad t know it working good though, It is a CPR bak pak, Iknow some people were woundering the other day how well it was working, I guess this is their answer.

CPR gets a bad rap because they do things a bit differently than the conventional manufacturers. All in all, they made decent stuff...

The more often it fills, the more stuff it's removing. It could be a sign that you are overstocked, but not twice a week.
Just look at it this way.... every time you clean that cup out, it's one less cup of that CRAP in your water, and on your hands, your fish....

I dont have any fish, all I have is snails, crabs, a couple of shimp, and a couple of clams. I have been fight alge realy bad over the last two or three weeks though. I has been getting better since the clean up crew was added, but there is still some. I'm going to try leaving my light off for a few days and see if that makes a difference.

Well the skimmer isn't conjuring that stuff out of nowhere, so there's something in your tank generating it. Did you put new live rock directly into the system? This will make it go nuts.
In any case, once whatever is generating it stops (which should happen eventually), the production of waste will slow.

Yes a little over a week ago.

There's your cause.
Once the rock finishes curing, you'll be fine and skimmer production will drop.
Good thing you didn't have fish in there.

Yea thats why I havent added any fish yet. I want to be able to finish adding more rock w/o curring it in a sepperate tank.

Cool thanks! It would be alot of work down the drain if I screwed up, or at least alot more unnecasary work created.

Hmmm, you make it sound like twice a week is a lot. I empty mine everyday. The cup holds about half a cup though. It is a Clear for Life skimmer made for this tank. Sometimes if I only have to empty it once every couple of days then I think it's not working right and adjust the air.

I agree Hatesushi, I have to clean out my protein skimmer, if im lucky, every other day, most of the time every night. I have the same thought though. Everytime I empty it, it makes me feel good besause that is that much less crap in the water. CLEAN WATER = HAPPY FISHYS - LOL

heres some pics of a remote runoff which will help you empty less frequently. If your skimmer doesn't have it. it's pretty easy to drill and tap a hole for the fitting that attaches the hose. Mine drains into a 1liter bottle
