i am about to purchase a skimmer. problem is ... LFS wants $140 for the one i want, drs foster and smith catalog has the same one for $86. i am all about keeping my money local, but that is almost half price. is the Xtra $$ worth the the knowledge i will gain from LFS. they really havent helped me at all to this point. i just keep reading and researching everything on the net. it seems the skimmer may be hard to get adjusted correctly. also - i could upgrade to the next bigger skimmer - which seems like a good idea to me. i have a 55 but will need to upsize the tank soon enuf. they have to coralife 125 for $121 rather than the coralife 65. i was also considering the remora. i think that can fit into my budget in a couple more weeks. meanwhile ... water change, water change, water change!!!

Thats always a tough call but the savings online is pretty big. Does that include shipping?
For a while I would always give the LFS to come down a bit. Not to match b/c that will never happen but if it was reasonable I'd buy it from them. Now I know what they can bargain on and what they can't.
I buy my food, salt and 75% of my livestock local b/c they trade with me but equipment, LR, LS a LFS can't touch the price online.

I always give the lfs last chance by giving the them the price I find on line and asking them to come down. It helps when you choose one lfs and they know your devoted to them. btw where in Ga are you?
