Hi everyone, I just purchased a used skimmer.. went to clean the beckett and took it all apart. I took notice to the way it was assembled so I could reassemble the same way. Anway on was on the MRC website and the diagram they have on how to put one one piece that looks like an arrow with a ball on the bottom seems to be backwards to the way it should? I will post the picture of their diagram and an actuall picture on how It was /I think it is suppossed to be installed.
Please give me your feed back.

Yeah that definately looks upside down to me. Perhaps, Acrylic51 will show up, I believe he has one of those dual becketts. If not I'd pm him and ask.

Well Mine is the MRC 1 which is only the one beckett (unless I am totally confused) but the MRC website doesnt have a diagram for each model, but just got the MR series...
Thanks

based on your picture, it looks like you have the ball and arrow flip flopped. The way the plasic shell is molded makes me think that you have it backwards in your pic and that the diagram looks correct based on the way the plastic is molded.

but if it is flipped... and i put the arrow right where the ball is in that picture.. the casing wont close... its too big. if I slide the arrow down into the big opening.. then the ball just dangles out of the bottom of the becket.. im very confused.

It is upside down I can tell from the picture. Here's a crude drawing with some arrows. If you look at the arrow side of the gismo you will see that it has tabs on a couple of the fins. And if you look at the casing there are spots for those tabs to fit in. See what I mean???

YES!! Very very cool!!
Thank you!! I did see the tabs on the 'arrow' and knew they had to be for something, but only the one casing has the notches so I guess I didnt see it.
Thank you so much!

My originals rattled like crazy, I had bought extras and they didn't. You'll see the skimmer can be rather sensitive at times.

Acrylic... while I have you here.. can I get your opinion.. My 90 has been cycling for about 3-4 days now... 70 +/- Lbs baserock 35lbs live rock... 1" arogonite substrate (40 lbs Ls being shipped) and i put in a mesh bag 2 or 3 raw shrimp. My Ammonia went steadily up to 1.0 but is staying there and not going over.. should I leave in the shrimp and just make sure ammonia doesnt go over 1? My nitrites have not budged up yet. I just didnt know if leaving the shrimp in is preventing this or not.
Thanks

its not preventing the cycle from happening. You might not see nitrites yet as you might not have the proper bacteria in place to convert the ammonia to nitrite. Give it some time, wont be long.
