Skimmer. ..enthralling

I'm not sure if it is hooked up wrong or something is out of whack but I was wondering how long exactly it takes for the skimmer to start to build up the ugly foam Ive seen like other's skimmers do?

could take anywhere from a few hours to a few days til everything gets a slime coating and all of the production oils are gone.
What skimmer is it??

A red sea piece of .....yeah. A while ago when I got it I didn't really take into consideration that a $198.99 skimmer was going to be bad, until I decided one day to see how mine was rated here @ SWF.com.
Its been running for about 8 days.

It can take awhile for it to start working, but after 8 days you should be getting dirty production by now. Is there any foam at all and if there is, is it just not reaching the cup? Or are you getting just water in the cup? Are there any adjustments that can be made to air or water intak on your skimmer?
