Shot me an e-mail and I can give you a site that has one. It's a DIY that somebody came up with. Looks pretty good and fits in one of the back chambers.

i guess i wasn't really clear ......i'm seeking help on how to attach a protein skimmer to a jbj deluxe 12 gallon tank without destroying the top of the tank. the deluxe comes with dual lights and cooling fans as well as moon lights and there is no room to knock out a hole in the top without destroying the looks and functions.
is there such a thing as a " remote or hang on protein skimmer " - small enough to be workable without covering up the viewing area - possibly one that has tubes running to it so it can be attached outside the tank - and hang on the back ?
arghhhhhhhhhhhh - tough one maybe ?
thanks for looking anyway ....

I don't have a cube, and don't really know what the exact setup is, although I've seen the back sides of these units.....just a thought, is there anyway for you to gravity feed from the over flow compartment down to a 10g sump? That way you could use almost any skimmer (within reason). You'll just need to figure out the overflow rate and the return rate, subject to head height and return pump. Just a thought.......

Laddy,
i appreciate the quick reply - and yes i could set up a sump - problem is the reason i bought the 12 gallon jbj deluxe was size and location ..............taking up only 15x15 ( tank size) and everything compact in one package ..............except for a protein skimmer ...lol
really don't want to expand my reef tank setup with another tank ( sump ) because of location .
counter top on my wetbar - next to my 175 gallon fish only tank !!!
gotta have room to play also ...............!
thanks anywy though .

right now my 12 gallon nano is cycling - almost there though ....but i do have 14 lbs of cured live rock with a small clean up crew and a couple of bottle brush plants only.
my 175 ( fish only ) has yelow tangs - maroon clown - 2 percula clowns -a big ass lawnmower blennie - scooter bleenie - 2 yellow tail damsels -domino 3 spot damsel - 2 pajama cardnal's -some feather dusters and a very large clean up crew including 2 mexican turbo snails .....man , what a couple of pigs they are...
my big tank hasn't been this clear of algae in 20 years...
i plan on having a few live corals and a few zoo's in the nano = but slow goes with me ....
patience is one thing i did learn about this hobby ........learned the hard way ...$$$$$$
thanks for asking - got any ideas ?

If you have 14# of LR then you're well on your way to creating a good biological filtration system. Why not add a nice LS layer and be done with it? Unless you are opposed to such a setup?

I think he wants to be able to do a surface skim..
Not matter how much LR you have you will always have surface scud to skim :)

I believe he's talking about protein skimming, not the DIY overflow people are reffering to as a surface skimmer.

Laddy,

what is the abreviation of " LS LAYER " you spoke of and how does it work - open 4 any ideas ?
am looking 4 a protein skimmer most of all that will work with my nano cube though.
