Skimmer HELP!

So I just installed the PSK-100H skimmer, and I am very confused. Its releasing a lot of micro bubbles into my DT. The instructions say that I should have the foam piece thats supposed to be blocking them 1/2 inch ABOVE (?) my water level?? I feel like if I do that I would have 50 gallons in my tank instead of 55. Its also very loud....
Does anyone have this skimmer that can help me?? Here is a video and a picture of the water level and bubbles..
Thanks for you help!

I believe the sponge should go some where inside the skimmer probably b4 the outlet. skimmers are loud unless you have a spot on the skimmer to hook up the air hose to muffle the sound.

Yes you want to adjust the foam height up in the column with out it over filling the cup and this should reduce the bubbles and perhaps make them go away after 2-3 days. I would put a bucket under it because it will overflow on you at some time. You want to set the foam so you make as little skimmate as you can till it breaks in.

Yes, the micro bubble seem to be going away with time. I will set the foam so that none reaches the collection cup for a day or two. How do I know that the skimmer has been "broken in"?

The skimmer will make more foam as it breaks in and if set too high the cup may overflow so make little adjustments over a few days. People have told me that cleaning the cup can make the bubbles form in the tank but that it goes away after a few days.
