Skimmer ideas?

So, I'm setting up a 29g tank, and the stand I am using can only fit a 10g tank for a sump. So, my skimmer needs to have a footprint of about 12x9 or a little bit less for it to fit in my sump.
I'm looking into SWC brands, and Octopus, and Coralife but I also see some really reasonably priced Eshopps skimmers with a decent foot print. I've read the reviews from the Eshopps skimmers and it seems like they are decent, for the price. I also am wondering if I need to get a skimmer for about 75g or more? I don't know...
I'm willing to spend around $160, but not over $200. Preferably less than that (Eshopps).
Here's some of the things that I am hoping to achieve with the skimmer:
1. keep algae at bay
2. remove excess nutrients
3. keep a good variety of soft corals
4. provide excellent water quality.
5. water clean enough to grow coralline
Please help me make a good decision!

Has anyone had good results with an ASM Mini G protein skimmer? It has the footprint that I need and it's within a good price range. Has anyone had any problems with it?

Best little skimmer I ever had is a Tunz nano, footprint...3 X 5 for up to 60g $150.00 and worth every cent.

I'm also looking into skimmers that I don't have to clean but maybe once a week... Would the ASM work for this application?

I don't know anything about the ASM...any skimmer has to have the cup emptied once it's full and that will depend on the skimmer and your tank. Frankly, a skimmer that is so useless to only need to be emptied once a week isn't worth 10 pennies.
However the Tunz nano just lifts right out and you dump it...takes seconds

Well, I could drill a hole in the skimmer cup and insert some vinyl tubing that drains into a milk jug... that wouldn't be that bad of a problem, honestly.
I think I might go with the Eshopps or the ASM... I really need some more opinions!

No, but thank you! I haven't ever heard anything good about Remora, and I have never had luck with them.
Any other thoughts on the ASM or Octopus? Is Octopus worth the extra cost, or ASM just as good, even though it's made out of clear PVC instead of acrylic?

I used to run an ASM mini g.
Pros:
- Does a decent job of pulling crap from the water
- Doesn't require much maintenance
- Small footprint
- Not too pricey
Cons:
- The pump sometimes would get an air bubble around the impeller and wouldn't pump. It was hard to get rid of the bubble since the pump is wedged into the bottom of the skimmer. This was really annoying.
- I had micro bubble issues when I ran this skimmer that I don't have with my current skimmer.

I wasn't happy with the ASM Mini-G at all. It was super picky about water level, so I had to build a shelf in the sump, and it literally fell apart. It's now in the landfill where it belongs.

So, could someone suggest a skimmer for 40g of water in the $150 - $175 price range that is worth it?
