Skimmer in Sump Help....

Does anyone have a protein skimmer in their sump?? If so,, whAT kind do you use,, and what is the flow rate/ how is it hooked up to maintain waterflow through your sump/ overflow?? Help me please! I really want to set up a sump under my 46 gal. fish only,, with a skimmer, and live rock/ sand and some algae,, also I am going to put a heater and possibly an ehiem canister filter in there,, so any help at all is needed! Thank you!

i use a kent nautilis t-e. this is a much larger unit than you will need. it is seperate from the overflow or return and is run by a seperate pump. mine is rated for tanks upto 300gl.

I use a SeaClone protein skimmer. They are inexpensive and work very well. I have a 75g and have had it working in my sump for nearly a year now. If this is going in your 46g the SeaClone will be adequate.

I use berlin turbo just drop it in and turn it on and regulate air flow with a valve on it till the top cup fills slow nice skimmer for the buck

I just set up my sump this weekend and threw my prizim skimmer down there. Originally I had it set up so that the skimmer intake was on one side of a plexy divider in the sump and the return on the other side. But balancing the flow was an issue, so I moved it so the intake and return are in the same part of the sump.
