Skimmer is overflowing thru collection cup...

You probably need to lower the water level in the neck of your skimmer. When did you set this up? Did you just add something to your tank before it started going nuts?

I just installed it right now. I removed the cup and covered it with my hand and the water level started dropping but as soon as I give it air it starts rising.

It's setup externally cuz of space and I plumbed the return up about 5 inches and the turns into the the sump. Could it be that? the return is going to high? Doesn't make sense cuz its rising thru the cup.

can you adjust the air volume? Also new skimmers have a break in period of around a week or so. This break in will build up a slime coating on the body of the skimme and tube up to the cup and will stop skimming so wet, but you do need the air volume adjustment too?

When I start it up the water just starts rising up thru the cup and onto the floor! Could the pump is to powerful?

In that link it shows you where the water line is to be in the chamber. If your drain is moded cause it is on the outside of the sump, then your drain is causing it to be too full. Maybe a pic of how you have it?
I am guessing you need to raise it up and lower the drain tube.

You need to "open" the gate valve more. The gate valve allows you to control the water level IN the skimmer.

Agree with Posiden here. If you have water in the section marked Foam Condenser (Riser Tube) on page 1 of the manual then you need to raise the unit. Some type of a stand put under it.

i had the water outlet going up and over the sump wall. I changed the setup and drilled a hole straight into the sump like it is in one of the pictures. I hope it works...I'm waiting for it to dry up...

Ok, the way the picture shows it. The water level in the skimmer is dictated by the water level in your sump. I hope your water level is at the right height. Also not in the return chamber. Your evap will play with the skimmer if it is.

I have that skimmer as well, and yes you need to adjust your valve on the side. This skimmer is extremely touchy, but works great once you find the correct setting. My skimmer is a older model, however it sits on a stand emerged only 3 inches into the water.
