Skimmer Mod Help Please

Just picked up my 240 on Thursday, I am hoping I will be able to use the skimmer I selected. Its the Aqua C EV 240 with Mag 12 pump.
According to the owners manual, the skimmer can set in up to 10 inches of water.
The overflow in the sump is at 13 inches high
The skimmer is 26 inch tall
The stand is 30 inch tall, with the base and whatnot, I only have room to raise the skimmer 2ish inches as my first thought was to put a plastic base underneath.
Basically the guy whom designed my set up was releaved of his position the day before I picked up the tank

I think he had something in mind to make it work.
Thought you guys might have some ideas....I really like the skimmer

make a stand out od pvc and eggcrate... look around at the craft store for a plastic backet?.. you can use lots of things to rop up your skimmer.. just make sure you have enought hieght clearence to take to collection cup off..

What if I were to use 2 elbow fittings (pictured below) to raise the water from the gate valve. The first one would curve to point straight up, the second would curve to dump the water out

...Would this work? If I do this should I switch to the Mag 18 (the other reccommended pump) to increase the flow?

Not sure what your problem is from below post, but I had issues in my sump with this set-up as well.
Problem 1. The return line would spray against the wall creating a splashing out the side.
Problem 2. Not enough troom for the Mag 12 and the Skimmer box both in the sump area.
I used a circle cutter on a drill and cut a bulkhead return into the side of my sump and set the skimmer on the outside of the sump. If you do this just go REAL slow so you do not crack your sump.
I have an external canister for my skimmer overflow, but you could simply direct the overflow hose back into the sump.
I'll try to get you some pics tonight. Hope this helps as I'm not sure of your problem.
Looking again I think I understand the problem. Your overflow is too high for your skimmer due to stand clearance. Why not use a hack-saw and take a few inches off your overflow in the center. Just leave an inch or two on either end. Just a thought though. By lowering your overflow you will reduce the amount of water in your sump but allow your skimmer to fit.

If you retrict the output you run the risk of your skimmer not working and overflowing. I called Aqua C about this and they informed me you need the output to not be underwater and have no retrictions.

Sorry for the excessive posting but looking at your above picture again. You do know if you setup the way it is shown above you will be skimming your return water over and over and will loose effectiveness.
Your Mag pump should be set-up in a way that it is not pulling in the skimmed water from the return but should be pulling in water from your tank and allowing the return water to return to the tank.
