I purchased a new skimmer last year to replace the seaclone that was on my tank. It foams sometimes but others it does not. I have taken the pump off and cleaned it but it wasnt dirty. The skimmer is a coralife 125

when its not foaming, that means theres no air getting into the pump. You need to find the little hose that connects onto the skimmer pump. It should be right behind the pump intake. The tube needs to be out of the water, and you need to make sure that there is no water in the little silencer container(little contained that looks like an old camera film bottle.) IF that is above the water,and has no water in the container, you need to reach in, and pus the little plastic fitting on the end of the tube hard into the hole in the pump.
This will ensure that it gets the proper air in the pump.

Yeah, i actually changed the piece of tubing and it works now thanks.
