I know this a hot topic but would like to here some opinions with actual results not emotions. I'm setting up a AGA 210 folwr with a heavy bioload. The residents are angels and tangs. I'm going to start with a dsb and dry base rock ( from Macro rocks) and figure on adding a few LR pieces also.
I'm torn on the sump and I'm thinking of using a 40g breeder with a fuge in the center with some mangroves and algea. I'm not having any issues with parameters with the fish in my 90g but want to ensure this continues( so the fuge should be good insurance I figure). I currently running a Precision Marine Redline 125 but this will go to another tank. I've been real happy with the PC unit and was planning on getting there Redline 225 model for this tank.
I'd really like to get a 300g rated skimmer and I'm on somewhat of a budget.
I've read alot of good reviews of the reef octopus and ASM units and they appear to be abit cheaper. So what other skimmers should I be looking at?
I'd prefer to have an insump unit.

ATB, Hurricone,Super Reef Octopus,MSX/SWC. You may have a problem fitting one of these in a 40g breeder if you have much else going on in the sump. I been told that the sump saver versons dont preform as well. You might be better off going with one that does not sit in your sump. I have done a little research on skimmer lately. I went with the Super Reef Octopus XP2000 cone insump for a 144g dt with a 40g breeder sump. I talked to people that sell all these skimmers.

Some say ASM= best bang for the buck (new) The best cone will only preform 5% better than a good standard type skimmer.
