skimmer or no skimmer????

hi i have a 40 gal hexagon and right now i have a brown tang and a yellow tang a shrimp and a royal gramma i have about 5 pounds of live rock in there. what i want to know is every one talks about protien skimmers do i need one? i use a emperor bio filter 280 right now.

I have 2 Emperor 400's in my 55 but I still swear by my protein skimmer...they are good to have.

yup, you definately need one. IMO its a must for saltwater aquarium.

In my opinion it is not a must. They sure do work and take out a lot of stuff, but not a necessity. I have a 44 gallon that was a reef, then a fish only tank, I use a fluval 404, no need for a protein skimmer. Justin
