I am new to saltwater aquariums -
I recently got my sump up and functional but my refugium section is not very big. Would putting my skimmer in the return section of my sump do any good or should I just try to hang it on the side of my aquarium?
- thanks

I have mine in my sump but It has its own chamber. By putting it in your return section you will have to maintain your water levels other wise the water level in your skimmer will fluctuate. One min it will be to low so you raise your water level in your skimmer then you top off your return level and now your skimmer is overflowing. I would recomend placeing it in your sump somewhere the water level does not fluctuate

If you put the skimmer near the return pump you may have micro bubbles that get into yout display tank. Why not hang it off the side of the sump?

Thanks for your replies. I guess for now I will put it on the back of my tank. I am building a custom sump, right now I have a small one, and I will definately leave room to put the skimmer in it.

If you use glass inside of your sump for baffles make sure you have them cut just a little bit smaller than the width of the inside of your tank so you can get the silicone inbetween the baffle and the side of the tank.
