Skimmer Problem PLEASE HELP

Hello everyone. I purchased a 55 gallon tank about a month or so ago. Well it came with a Protein skimmer that when i first hooked it up produced a tiny amount a skimmage in the collection cup, but ever since has not. Here is a picture of it:

The Hose that goes to the left i believe is an air intake, it has a needle valve on it but the needle is missing so i can not adjust it. Should this be replaced or does it not need that? Also is there any other way i could adjust this to produce more foam? Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

In my non-expert opinion, you most surely need a valve to set the skimmer for proper operation.

I'm having the same problem so will be following along. I got mine to work for two weeks now nothing.
I've adjusted the value to no air to the most it will let me, unplugged the skimmer but nothing gets it foaming again.

take off the air lines and the bottom plastic 90degree inlets and clean them out to ensure there is no salt build up. do the same for the disk the elbows attack to. then put it back together. try that.
