Skimmer Problem

Ok I have the "Super, wonderful, great, outstanding" (a little sarcasim) seaclone skimmer. I shortened the inner tube and it worked great for about 3 months and now, it went to heck on me. TOday I need to shut my skimmer down for about 2 hours to do some rewiring and cleaning. When I turned the skimmer back on, it filled the tank with superfine air bubbles, I spent the better part of the afternoon trying to get it to stop spittin millions of tiny bubbles, but I only get no bubbles with the air vlave completely closed (which just makes is an expensive watergountain!) Any idea's?

Do you add stress coat or any other water conditioner to your water? This will make tons of bubbles come out of your return, IME. If not, have you done anything different in your tank since the skimmer was worked on?

Are Tiny Air Bubbles bad? I have a Skilter (I know, piece of crap - - but what I have at the moment). It is a "aeriating" power filter plus p. skimmer. It shoots out all kinds of tiny bubbles in the tank. Should I just turn the dang thing off until I get a Prizm? Thanks. Sandy in Tucson.

I heard that the older ones also had a valve/air regulator problem too that should be replaced; it should still be under warrantty w/ the manufacturer if you have had it less than a year;
but yes, if you put some kind of chemical stress coat relief into the tank;it will throw off skimmer for few days or so

My clone does this too after I clean it, but I usually leave the air valve wide open for an hour or two and then tune it down. It does good for about 2 or 3 weeks and then needs cleaning real well and we go thru the same ordeal again! Gonna buy a new skimmer when the tax refund comes!
