I bought a mag 18 to replace my 2 month old via aqua 3300 (970 gph)
my Via aqua protein skimmer uses a via aqua 2600.
If i slap the 3300 in there will the performance go up?

The 2600 is what 740gph...?
Bumping the flow may or may not show as an "improvement" in performance...
Skimmers are designed to work in a certain/limited "range" of flow and air ratio...based on collection chamber size ...
Adding flow by itself without accounting for other design issues may not show as an "improvement..
You may need to "tweek" the air induction to balance the higher flow to see any benifit...
Most likely it'll just fill the chamber and "flood" the collection cup with water..

well its of the rejuvinating venturi type... i guess
maybe i just have to use it full air flow to see a great benefit... or maybe i just need to leave it alone

Try it...and play with the "factory" adjustments to see if you can get "close"..
You may have to drill out the air supply to the venturi to get full benifit, but you may end up ruining the whole thing...
No Gut's No Glory...:D
